People are repurposing their Christmas trees for Valentine's Day to spread a little love

Christmas might be over, but the trees aren't going anywhere.

We've already seen Halloween trees and Easter egg treesbut now households are repurposing their Christmas trees for Valentine's Day to spread a little lockdown love.

Although many of us took our Christmas trees down on the Twelfth Night (5th or 6th January 2021), a new rising trend on Instagram has seen users decorate their trees with striking pink accessories in time for 14th February.

Instead of traditional baubles, Valentine's Day trees are adorned with pink teddy bears, bows, balloons, cupids and, of course, hearts. From twig trees to artificial pink fir styles, it seems people are doing all they can to lift their spirits — and the pictures are sure to make you smile.

One Instagram user, Gina Clapprood, said she was redecorating her tree for Valentine's Day to 'manifest as much love and kindness as possible' during these challenging times.

Her post read: 'Even though we took the Xmas decorations down, I can't seem to take the tree down yet. It's been up since 1st November and has given me a sense of calm and peace. So I decided to decorate it for Valentine's Day!'
